Dear Jacki m,

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a time for survivors and supporters alike to shatter the silence of sexual violence. Please get involved with some of the follow events to do your part in ending sexual violence. Please feel free to pass this special edition newsletter on to your friends and colleagues.

Sincerely,

ANGELA ROSE
PAVE, Founder and Executive Director

Report IT Campaign

The Report It Campaign is a nationwide, state-to-state rally on April 29 to raise awareness on the prevalent victim-blaming that contributes to vast under-reporting of sexual violence and low rates of prosecution. Report IT’s goal is to call for removal of statutes of limitations on reporting sexual abuse to increase victims’ chances for justice.

Learn more and get involved today! Bring justice to victims now!

Binding Project

The Binding Project is an international art empowerment campaign where participants write an empowering word on a plastic zip tie bracelet to show their solidarity with victims that shatter the silence of sexual violence. Thousands of these binding bracelets are being collected for an installation art piece in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

These zip ties were used to bind PAVE Founder

Angela Rose when she was abducted and assaulted. Learn more about how to partake in this project for SAAM.

Removing the Mask

Do you want an innovative way to raise money for your local rape crisis center, church or women’s shelter? Plan a "Removing the Mask" party where participants donate to decorate a mask and then these masks can be put on display at a local library or community center to raise awareness. These paper masks are available for $2.99 plus shipping for 24 masks – click here. All you need are random art supplies like markers, magazines/glue stick, feathers, or any other decorative supplies. For a complete campaign packet of information, become a PAVE affiliate by emailing Stephanie to learn more about how your organization can parter with PAVE: chapters@pavingtheway.net.

Also, purchase campaign t-shirts where a portion of proceeds benefit PAVE! Artist Morgan from Koko Mia was inspired by PAVE, she designed the shirts and wrote a corresponding poem. Read the verse and order a t-shirt today!

Art for Awareness Event
This event combines artists, musicians, advocates, and poets to bring a sense of community and empowerment when shattering the silence of sexual violence. For complete event project plan, become a PAVE affiliate! (Painting by Kamelia)

Transition to Survivor Viewing
PAVE’s powerful documentary on victims’ transition to survivor is being shown on college campuses and military bases across the country. The film features survivors of sexual violence telling their stories from reporting the crime to dealing with the aftermath of violence.

ps.  the move to Texas is on just need to secure a good rate on renting a mini van.  Unlimited mileage for one week I got a rate of $30.00 a day through priceline.com yet the hitch wound up being it had to be returned to the same place which the rental car company had said I could change that to one way after the price was accepted, then they couldn’t when it came through their sister company.  Go figure, the good news is that priceline are refunding it with no charge because of that.  There were really good about it all,  I’d been on the phone back and forth with car rentals all day and even the girl at priceline tried to help with it and she couldn’t find the way either, even though their are suppose to be one way areas that you can pick up the deals she couldn’t even find where they were.

So wish us luck we are back to the internet tomorrow once the refund goes through to find another good deal.  We are taking the two dogs so we can’t just rent the ten foot truck.  I would need a truck with an extended cab and I can’t seem to find one of them yet and the cargo van people say that since they buy their own vans now for their locations they don’t rent them one way out of state.  Go figure, so if anyone has any help or knowledge about this please email me at ladyjztalkzone.com  ,   thanks.  lj

Long said that “we teach what we need to learn” has always made much sense to me.  As students come into my life again they are helping me find my spirit that is somehow just out of my reach.

Though I can still make them laugh and make their day I do not find the satisfaction I once did from this.  So some of the other women will be joining me in this new little venture as we use our “play time” as a way to talk to others about something that I know others love to hear also.

Here is one of the first test using my avatar rooms at IMVU and Jing program together.  This was basically I was thinking about yesterday and at the end there is a link to go see the little five minute clip.  Have a great day,  Lady J

It use to be when I was alone in my thoughts that I could get in touch with my spirit.  The one that was beat out of most of us at an early age.

I actually thought that I had found that spirit again twenty years ago, yet I seemed to have misplaced it along the way with all the moving around I’ve done these last years.  I simply have not been able to find it at all.

Since I have not been settled in my own home for years now my books, lesson plans, all that inspiring stuff of my own is still placed in bins and creates awaiting a real home of my own.  And it seems that no substitute will do right now.

There was a time when just sitting in a quite place I could allow myself to find peace.  Now this Empath on this earthly journey has so many walls again built up around her so as not to feel all the negativity from the people around me that I fear until I move on it would be impossible.

Then again lately I’ve been thinking (I know that can be dangerous..lol..) that perhaps I needed this lesson in life to get over the last hurdle that has been blocking me from seeing my dreams come to reality.

Let’s go with that for a moment.  In My Mystical Realm of thinking it is said that we are not human beings having a spiritual experiences; instead, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. When I first heard that it made a lot of sense and there was that "knowing" inside that I had connected with the truth of that statement.  It seems that holding on to all that knowledge is hard to do with a multiple’s mind for as the others come in and out they seem to have trouble "practicing" what some others preach.

I’ve had to accept that over my many years and we have come a long way in understanding both the physical realm and the spiritual realm in this life time.  Perhaps my mission was just that.  To come to terms with being human for the last time and move on with higher callings.

As spirits we are just visitors and witnesses here in this physical realm.  I’ve heard and read many times about how we came here and lost all memory of what is on the other side and all we knew before we were born.  One of the biggest reasons that they say it takes so much courage for a soul to incarnate on earth.  I’ve long said, before I even picked up my first metaphysical study, that I had been through enough hell on earth so I didn’t worry about the after life.

When I first read Sylvia Brown say that this was Hell and that it was the place to learn the hardest lessons I knew I was on the right track.  And I didn’t read her first book until 2007, so I think I did pretty good all those years on my own with just basic Astrology and Numerology books I had read twenty and thirty some years ago.

They say this is why spiritual inquiry so often feels like a remembering, and why sometimes you just know how to do something.  You pick something up and you know how to work it without ever having touched it before.  Sometimes I would feel like I was lying to someone when I said I could do it, not really knowing where that knowing came from.  That added to an already complicated mind set of being a multiple.  I use to wonder if there was another "hidden alter" somewhere.

It’s said that remembering that we are spiritual beings is part of the work that we are here on earth to do. When we get into a place of remembering, we tap into the wisdom that our spirit accumulated even before we stepped into this lifetime.  Remembering who we are can give us the patience to persevere when we become overwhelmed or frustrated.  It can give us the courage to work through the most daunting challenges and help us trust the ancient wisdom we carry that is offered to us by our intuition.

These lessons can only be learned while inhabiting an earthly body.  Though I think differently then some about karmic debts I do understand fully that learning about love and teaching about forgiveness are what connects me to my spirit.  Not being able to forget the harms that others have done to this earthly body is a whole other lesson.

I want to thank Barry and Heather for this series.  If they are all as good as this first one we are in for quite a treat here.  LadyJzTalkZone has been about being there for even one person to find their way on this path we call life, and it’s great to read how others are and did just follow their dreams when so many would have been afraid to.  And that is what being a Hero is all about.  Standing up for something you believe in.  Lady J

Hidden Heroes — Hero #1 (John Wood)

Posted: 20 Mar 2009 04:48 PM PDT

If you missed the INTRODUCTION to our Hidden Heroes series, you can read it by clicking here. Otherwise, continue below to read about Hero #1…

He had a corporate job many people would have envied — good salary, great benefits, working for one of the richest men in the world at Microsoft.

But he followed the true Hero’s Journey — not the one you read about in myths and storybooks, but the one that countless former lawyers, accountants, bankers, CEOs and other people (who were doing what people told them they “should” be doing) have taken when breaking away from “the American Dream” to live their own Personal Dream.

I’ve interviewed several of them.

And I’ve noticed a few surprising patterns that recur again and again: like Lawyer to Actor/Comedian, Lawyer to Motivational Speaker, and Accountant to Personal Development Author.

But this guy — our first Hero in our Hidden Heroes series — didn’t just uncover his purpose and follow his true passion.  He’s not just helping people by entertaining or teaching them.

He took on a hugely monumental task…

====== Continued =======

John Wood had an almost decade-long fast-paced and distinguished career at Microsoft, during the peak growth years from 1991-1999. He used to be in charge of marketing and business development teams throughout Asia… and now he’s in charge of a different kind of development there.

See, one day John decided to take a vacation from his high-profile, high-stress job. What was going to be a trek through Nepal turned into a spiritual journey, and then a mission:

To change the world one book and one child at a time, by setting up libraries in the developing world.

This hits home for us, because many years ago Barry and I (separately, before we even met each other) each stated our mission in life as:

To change the world for the better, one person at a time, by empowering them to live the life they want.

When we first learned that we both had the same vision as change-makers and value-givers, we were flabbergasted. Talk about synchronicity gone wild!

And that’s still our mission at LWL Worldwide.

In fact, the kinship I feel with John Wood goes another level deep, as well.

Two years ago, I was also working a cool job for good money and great benefits in the technology industry — as an Account Rep for Nokia mobile phones. John worked for an American company and had a territory in Asia; I worked for a Finnish company and had a territory in Canada.

But as fun as the job was, for a J.O.B., I was becoming severely disenchanted with it after three years. I felt like training salespeople on the features and benefits of cell phones was incredibly superficial compared to the life-changing teaching that I really wanted to be doing in my heart.

Sure, I was doing what I wanted to do after work and on weekends — first launching Success Unwrapped, then Internet Marketing Unwrapped, then hooking up with Barry for Masters of the Secret — and all these projects allowed me to interview people, create valuable life-changing content, make money and have fun.

But I was scared to leave the safety net of the full-time gig.

One weekend I went to Dr. John F. Demartini’s Breakthrough Experience workshop as his personal guest, after interviewing him twice for Masters of the Secret.

And during each break, I would phone Barry — who, at the time, was just my best friend and business partner — to tell him what I was learning and, yes, the breakthroughs I was experiencing (appropriately enough for a workshop called The Breakthrough Experience!)

Barry asked me several times during those calls to quit my job the following Monday and work full-time with him on ramping up Masters of the Secret and some other LWL projects.

And I kept telling him no, I wasn’t ready to quit — and even if I did, I would have to give two weeks notice, since it was in my contract… but that the conversation was moot because it wasn’t going to happen anyhow, as much as I wanted it to.

So what happens Monday morning?

In the most amazing fast-turnaround manifestation I had ever witnessed up to that point, I got laid off!

John Wood didn’t wait for that to happen though.

His vacation-cum-spiritual journey through Nepal brought him into a library that had no books… and face-to-face with a man who unknowingly issued him a challenge.

So with just a loose vision of the change he wanted to bring to the world, he was soon driven to leave his career voluntarily.

But, like most visionaries who ditch a career for a dream, he used the best of what he already knew to further that dream.

In John’s case, he brought Microsoft business practices to the world of non-profits to create Room to Read, an organization that has spawned a network of over 5,500 schools and libraries throughout rural and poor communities in Asia and Africa.

The organization is now one of the fastest growing, most effective, and award-winning non-profits of the last decade. John has been recognized in the worldwide media as a “21st century Andrew Carnegie,” building a public library infrastructure to help the developing world break the cycle of poverty through the lifelong gift of education.

As the Founder and Executive Chairman of Room to Read, John brings a vision for a scalable solution to educational problems in developing countries. He has an intense focus on results, an ability to attract world-class helpers, and a knack for long-term strategy that have all allowed him to achieve the seemingly impossible.

John was selected as the second recipient of the Draper Richards Fellowship, has twice been chosen for the Skoll Foundation award for social entrepreneurship, and has led Room to Read to three consecutive selections for the prestigious “Social Capitalist” by Fast Company magazine and the Monitor Group. In 2004, he was named as one of Time Magazine’s “Asian Heroes” — the only non-Asian ever selected to receive this award.

And along the way he wrote a book called Leaving Microsoft to Change the World (Harper Collins; September, 2006).

He might not fit the standard definition of a “renegade”, but we feel anyone who bucks the system to do things their own way is deserving of the Renegade title — including John.

In fact, it’s to inspire his kind of thinking and action-taking — against all odds, despite what anyone says — that we created our Renegade Growth Pak.

Our mission to change the world for the better, one person at a time, is coming true with every Renegade Growth Pak we sell.

And, like the many top-rate media outlets that have profiled John, we believe in his mission too.

So what better way to prove that we stand behind him, every step of the way?

See, we want to help him change the world.

How about you?

We’re re-opening Renegade Growth Pak, at 20% off the price we’ve been selling it for, exclusively to our in-house list (that’s you!) until March 27, 2009.

And we’re giving 20% of the profits to John’s non-profit, Room to Read.  At the end of March, we’ll upload a SCREEN SHOT of our Paypal donation for all to see.

Hi everyone, met this guy onair radio at psychiconair.com and he is really great.  Definitely down to earth so I want to introduce him to my blog readers also.  Lady J

Moving from Knowledge to Wisdom.  “Knowledge is knowing how to clean a window.  Wisdom is doing it”

Most of us KNOW what to do, right? Yet how many of actually do it?  Not many.  His words in his web site he has started.  He’s been thinking about it for a long, and knew he had to do it.  Much more to get done yet this was one of the first steps.

So here it is.  “I finally stated moving from knowledge to wisdom, from knowing to doing.  What about you?  What do you know?….Steve

Steve Marshall has spent 20 years changing the world one listener at a time.  Spending most of his life talking with listeners, and helping them move past the blocks that keep them from being all they can.  Steve combines intuition, spirituality, and an ability to get down to the issue at hand, then tackle it.  Steve will pull no punches and tell you what you need to hear.

Using intuition, in a grounded, earthly way, Steve can help you empower yourself, and finally stop repeating the same patterns over and over.

Just as comfortable with a pizza in front of the TV, as he is talking with a crossed over loved one, or helping you move through your childhood blocks, Steve Marshall has a unique way of bringing you the truth the way it was meant to be told!
