First, I would like to introduce a two new team members. Rachel Gaffney of Rachel Gaffney Irish Goods is our Culinary Events Coordinator.  Rachel Gaffney applies her organizational talents and culinary skills to help create the perfect ambiance at Enchanted Makeovers’ outreach events.  Recently Rachel joined Martha Stewart on her live show, baking Irish shortbread cookies.  Kristi Grahl handles public relations and communications.  Kristi Grahl is a nimble wordsmith. She has always believed in the power of words to inspire, influence and promote understanding.  Click here to learn more about our team members.

Our Beauty and Hope National Tour is bringing awareness to shelters, volunteers and entrepeneurs nationwide on the importance of opening our hearts and minds.  View details on the Recipes of Hope Event in Kansas City, below.  Next we will be headed to Ohio May 8th. More details to follow soon.

Our international project,  The Doll Project is the first of its kind. The goal of the project is to engage women in a process of personal discovery through dolls. The journey is designed to encourage dialog, share experiences and promote possibilities. The project promotes shared community responsibility.

”I hope these special events will break down walls and build bridges.” – Terry

Finally, EM was blessed with a feature article in Women’s World Magazine.  It has already connected us with passionate people, who want to contribute to the cause. WE, Kristi for her hard work which helped make this article happen.

Recipes of Hope

It is estimated that one in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.

Many of these are "silent crimes"-they’re never reported to police, and often they aren’t even shared with friends. But over time they take their toll, both on the immediate victims and on society as a whole. Women who escape abusive situations-often with small children in tow-usually have only the few clothes and personal items they can throw in a tote bag. While shelters offer a place of refuge, the environment is often dreary and discouraging.

On March 9, 2010, Enchanted Makeovers is heading to Kansas City, Mo., as part of a one-day event to bring a message of hope and love to residents of

NewHouse, a shelter for victims of domestic violence.
